DIY owner — '06 F-150 5.4L: "Truck shifts hard between 3rd and 4th. I changed the trans fluid, no help. Pulled P0755. AutoZone said replace solenoid B." Mike's call: "That code points to the CIRCUIT, not the part. Before you buy a solenoid, check the ground at G103 behind the head — broken ground throws the same code. Cheap fix." Customer reported back: ground was the fix. Saved $185.

Indie shop — '21 F-150 10R80: "Customer brought it in with shudder above 50 mph. Ford dealer ran him in circles for 3 weeks. We're stuck." Mike's call: "On the 10R80, that shudder is almost always the torque converter clutch slip pattern. Pull a sample of fluid, look for the burnt smell, run a flush, then re-evaluate. If it cleans up under hot flush, you've found it." Shop reported back: flush solved it. Customer paid $1,400 instead of $10,000 swap.

Junkyard sorting cores — ZF 8HP: "We have 14 ZF 8HPs out of late-model trucks. Which ones are worth rebuilding vs. scrapping?" Mike's call: "Check the case ID — anything before late 2018 has the older valve body that gives you trouble. Late-2018+ are gold. Photograph the IDs and text me, I'll sort them for you." They paid for 30 min, kept 9 units, scrapped 5, saved ~$3k.
